A Prayer to Gold

I call to Gold, tooth of the lion, crown of
the king, light of the sun, glory beyond bearing,
beauty beyond understanding, you shine within
us. Through you we kindle our own flame, we light
our lamp, we warm our hearth; through you we discover
our own strength, we find our voice, we claim our might.
Grant us wisdom in our choices, grant us a kind heart
and a firm hand, grant us purpose and direction;
grant us the will, the desire, the character
to work for the good of all. Let us balance
with skill the trust and the doubt, the cleverness
and the integrity, to lead, to strive, to flourish.
